Pros and cons of Home + Security app for iPhone and iPad
Home + Security app good for
Having tried a couple and while admitting that there a few features I would want - this is a good camera and alert system. Best of all - no cloud. The design of the camera is great.
Integration with IFTTT is great. Face recognition is good too, but we always end up with unidentified faces.
Some bad moments
The tags are super sensitive, so much so that they are totally useless. A mailbox built into a concrete wall will generate alarms every few minutes due to wind or people walking past. Even with sensitivity turned to the lowest.
The camera identifies reasonably faces, but when it "sees" someone from behind, you get a lot of movement alarms.
Also a vacuum cleaner will make it believe an alarm has gone off.
The last few days we have not been getting alerts from our camera until hours after the motion occurred, sometimes not until the next day. There used to be small delays in receiving alerts before but never like its been recently. Ive emailed customer service but only got an auto reply so far. Please fix this so my camera is useful again!
I have had my Netatmo Welcome camera now for about one month and I am very pleased with it. I leave it on at all times because i use it like my other Security cameras so that I can get a 24/7 record of what is happening in my house. The night cam provides a very well lighting and a good image. It detects, when I have my iPhone, that I have left the house, (if I have any slowness, it would be that some times it seems to take a long time to find me after I get back home.
Some times it will reset its self if it loses the connection.
If you want a camera, this is the one to get ! ! !
Doesnt detect when I leave or come home anymore using my phone, until it sees my face, then it says unknown person. Was better before.
I like that theyve added a way to manually mark people that are home--this helps to cut down on all of the "Motion Detected" alerts that would constantly appear when Welcome would fail to recognize when someone had entered but then continued detecting motion from them without seeing a face.
I dislike that theyve removed the "Teach Faces to Welcome" option on both the the web and app interfaces... I liked having the option to verify Welcomes accuracy and continue improving family member profiles...
Cant set motion zones so motion detection is turned off on mine. New alarm detection is fooled by vacuum cleaner so turned that off too.
